HOW CAN WE IDENTIFY AND CHALLENGE THE NOTION OF WHITENING THE PHYSICAL AND PHENOMENAL SELF?
Me, myself and my Oreos is a semi-autobiographical performance piece about cultural heritage, the concept of ‘dance=freedom’ in relation to the connotations of being a successfully educated black woman within western society.
The audience is asked to open up and join in to celebrate a moment of freedom, a moment of clarity.
Tania is an Interdisciplinary solo performance artist based in Manchester. Working with different mediums to challenge concepts of diasporic identity, belonging and the black performing body, while focusing on nationalism, patriarchy, double conciousness, memory and call and response interaction between performer and audience.
