BOARD GAME NIGHT
DR AMY EDWARDS
THURS 21 MAY 2026 | ANCIENT HOUSE
Can you control the markets? Are you going to win big? Will you make your millions before the time is up?!
For one night only, we’re transforming Ancient House into a board game lounge!
Join Dr Amy Edwards - board game enthusiast and financial historian - to play a selection of rare and unusual economy-themed board games.
Amy will introduce us to the fascinating history of financial board games, and there will then be a selection of games to play (we will be on hand to explain the rules!)
Free refreshments will be provided to keep you going throughout the evening, but if you’re after something specific, you are welcome to bring in your own soft-drinks.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Dr Amy Edwards is a social and cultural historian of twentieth- and twenty-first-century Britain, specialising in cultures of capitalism, finance, and everyday economic life.
Her work explores the intersections between economic, political, and social experience, with particular attention to how people experience large-scale economic change in their daily lives. Her first book, Are We Rich Yet?, tells the story of how and why financial markets became so important to British society in the late twentieth century. She has also recently completed an Arts and Humanities research Council-funded project on the working lives of self-employed women in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
