VOLUNTEER WITH US

Volunteers are crucial in helping make SPILL Festival happen, and are a key part of the festival team.

We are now looking for volunteers to sign up for SPILL Festival 2025. If you are aged 18+, have some availability between 23 - 26 October 2023 and are interested in getting involved with innovative art in Ipswich, then we’d love to hear from you!

All volunteers will be working with audiences, and generally assisting with the safe, smooth running of events. You can also take the opportunity to get involved with backstage work, marketing, artist liaison and more.

‘The overriding memory of my first SPILL festival as a volunteer has been overwhelmingly one of an immensely joyful and smiling faced Ipswich community! The memories, experiences, and the amazing SPILL staff made this volunteer opportunity a truly unforgettable and repeatable experience. Thank you, SPILL, for an incredible time!’ - Claire, 2023 Volunteer

“2023 was the first time I had volunteered at the SPILL festival and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everything was planned wonderfully in advance by SPILL staff. I felt welcomed, appreciated and that I had all the information I needed before starting my first shift. The volunteering was an absolute blast! …Meeting and working with the other volunteers was great fun and I met some very interesting and creative people that I hope to keep in contact with.’ - Matt, 2023 Volunteer

What we can offer you:

  • Training and support, so you feel confident whilst taking on a wide range of tasks.

  • Involvement in an international festival of performance.

  • Opportunities to see parts of the exciting festival programme. (Please keep in mind this will be subject to capacity and availability; but we will try our best to ensure you see at least some performances.)

  • Being part of a network of volunteers and professionals who share a passion for live art.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Enthusiastic about performance, dance, live music and public art.

  • Happy to work as part of a team, as well as act on their own initiative.

  • Committed to, and flexible with, shifts where possible.

  • Punctual, with good time management.

  • Prepared to work in Ipswich at various venues and occasionally outdoors.

  • Welcoming and approachable advocates of SPILL.

How do I apply?

We value diversity and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and abilities. We only ask that volunteers be aged 18 or over when they apply. Besides being available on the day(s) for which you volunteer, you will be asked to attend a training session/health and safety briefing ahead of the festival (Wednesday 8th October)

The deadline for applications is midday, Tuesday 30th September.

If you have any questions regarding volunteering, or would like to know more about getting involved, please send an email to info@spillfestival.com with ‘Volunteering’ in the subject line
