Syd Barrett and Nina Simone. Public Enemy and the Smiths. These are some of the differing voices juxtaposed in Vinyl Equations, a performance that presents a series of vinyl records in unusual combinations.

Accompanied by a single turntable, artist and writer Robin Deacon will share a collection of stories and lectures that will uncover strange echoes and similarities between the records he has chosen to play for you. From describing his childhood fear of Joy Division, to the contemporary search for an obscure record of Caribbean folk songs featuring the voice of his mother, Vinyl Equations shifts between autobiographical account and fictional speculation.

Think Tank Live events start with a performance or presentation from our featured artist, followed by a Q&A session hosted by our Artistic Director, Robin Deacon. Stick around afterwards for drinks and chat.
