SCHOOLS

 ← BACK TO LEARNING

We custom-make resources for schools, using artworks we create ourselves and projects we present in SPILL Festival as their basis. These resources each take artworks as their starting point and then extend ways for children and young people to think about a range of associated topics. Each School’s Pack we create is specifically built to support teachers in delivering National Curriculum Key Stage content and extends traditional learning in arts, history, languages and more. We also offer artworks and installations to schools within Suffolk, as well as workshops for kids and young people focussing on the difficult subject of death.

THESE BONES

Suitable for: Primary + Secondary
Subject coverage: Spiritual, moral, social, cultural development

Adapting our artwork Shared Frameworks specifically for children, These Bones is a child‑sized photograph of a human skeleton, turned into a large scale public jigsaw puzzle. It has been designed to offer space for contemplation and relaxed exchanges around our end‑of‑life choices and care. In 2019, Pacitti Company presented an adapted version of Shared Frameworks for secondary schools. It recognised that the language technology for young people and children was limited around death and dying, due to confusing language such as ‘passed away’ or ‘lost’. This space was held by creators of the project Landscape Historian Lucy Walker and artist Robert Pacitti (creators of the project) and Child Bereavement Specialist Robert Ilett, from St Elizabeth Hospice. The artwork has now been adapted to work as a touring model across primary and secondary schools.

If you’re interested in These Bones visiting your school please contact our Participation Producer Alice Sandon: alice@spillfestival.com.
